Hyeromimus replaced by James McDonald on star colt Storm Boy

Adam Hyeronimus has taken a philosophical outlook after being replaced as the rider of Storm Boy and is already excited about the prospect of upsetting the glamour colt in next month’s Golden Slipper.

The Sydney jockey, who is a stable rider for Storm Boy’s trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, was advised earlier this week that he would no longer be the rider of the horse he partnered to a brilliant win in the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic on January 13.

The son of Justify was subsequently the subject of a massive offer from Coolmore, which will employ one of its regular riders with James Mcdonald likely to have his first sit on Storm Boy in a trial at Warwick Farm on Thursday.

Hyeronimus was disappointed to lose the ride but has accepted the decision and still considers himself in a more fortunate position than just over 12 months when still serving his ban for betting-related offences.

“Adrian rang me on Monday to let me know but as I said to him, I work for him, my main priority is Adrian, he’s my boss and I move on and concentrate on getting the team ready for these big races,” Hyeromimus told RSN927.

“I’d much rather be in the position I am today than what I was previously.

“It is what it is, I work for Gai and Adrian, they’ve been fantastic to me and I’ll just keep moving forward.”

It has not been all bad news for Hyeronimus this week with Waterhouse and Bott locking him in for the ride aboard Lady Of Camelot in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

The daughter of Written Tycoon was a dashing winner of the Group 3 Widden Stakes on February 3 and Hyeronimus is hopeful she can win the Blue Diamond and be a force in the $5 million Golden Slipper on March 23.

“Her win was electric first-up and she’s taken good improvement from that,” Hyeronimus said.

“She’s worked reverse way a couple of times since the win and Gai and Adrian’s two-year-olds are going fantastic.

“It’s a pleasure to be a part of the team and have a nice chance in such a feature race.”

Lady Of Camelot is joint favourite for the $2 million Blue Diamond, which will be run at Caulfield on February 24.
