Team Snowden 2YO’s return to Sydney

Peter & Paul Snowden have elected to concentrate on the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes with Fearless after his last start eye-catching run at Caulfield.

Fearless flashed home from near last on the home turn in the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) which had the run of a VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes contender, run over 1400m at Flemington on Saturday, written all over it.

But the Snowden father-and-son training team has instead sent Fearless back to Sydney to be set for the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 6.

To boost the colt’s confidence, Peter Snowden said Fearless would head to a 1200m maiden at Newcastle ahead of the Sires’.

“We want to try and give him a bit of confidence, get him winning, and he’ll win a nice race somewhere,” Snowden said.

“It was a very good run in the Blue Diamond and seven furlongs will suit him right down to the ground.”

Snowden was perplexed on Blue Diamond Day with the performance of High Octane after the colt finished ninth behind Hayasugi.

But Snowden said High Octane had pulled-up shin sore and will have a couple of weeks in the paddock with the hope of getting the colt to the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) at Randwick on the opening day of the Championships in Sydney.

“I’m glad we were able to find something because that was a pretty poor run,” Snowden said.

“He was quite sore Sunday morning and that came out of nowhere.

“It certainly explains the run and he’ll be back.”

The third of the Snowden’s Blue Diamond contenders, Bodyguard, was scratched the day prior to the race after failing a stringent Racing Victoria veterinary inspection.

The Snowden’s worked Bodyguard on Blue Diamond Day before sending him home to Sydney.

Snowden said Bodyguard would run in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday and remains in contention for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 23.
