Another Prophet chasing another G1 win in the Australian Guineas

Posted by RS NewsWire at 4:48pm on February 25th

Trainer Ciaron Maher is preparing for a strong showing in Saturday’s Australian Guineas, with Another Prophet leading his stable’s charge.

Maher, who co-trained Hitotsu to victory in 2022 and guided Southport Tycoon to success in 2023, is hoping for a hat-trick in the prestigious Group 1 race. While Kalkallo and Railway Man are also nominated, they are likely to contest a midweek Sandown race instead.

Another Prophet, who claimed victory in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield, has been targeted specifically for the Guineas and has shown resilience in her preparation.

“She’s in good order and she’s still going forward,” Maher said. “I don’t think it makes too much difference taking on the boys on Saturday and she’s ready to run out a strong mile.”

She joins London’s Image and Declichy Boulevard as the three fillies in the 23-horse field. New Zealand’s Savaglee will also aim to become the latest Kiwi success story at Flemington.

Pre-race markets have Angel Capital as the $3.50 favorite, with Point And Shoot and Sepals both priced at $6. Keep an eye on the latest odds via betting apps as final acceptances are locked in.
