2025 Queensland Derby hopes on show at Flemington
Brisbane beckons for Politely Dun as he resumes at Flemington this weekend with the Group 1 Queensland Derby firmly in his sights.
The talented Danny O’Brien-trained stayer missed a shot at the South Australian Derby after a blood irregularity but has bounced back in good order for Saturday’s Sir Henry Bolte Handicap (2000m).
“We weren’t completely happy with his blood before he got on the float to go to Adelaide,” O’Brien explained. “Clinically he’s been fine, and his blood picture came back quickly to normal parameters.”
Politely Dun was also an early entry for the VRC St Leger but bypassed the event. His last outing was a close second at Caulfield over 2400m, with the winner going on to be runner-up in the SA Derby — form that reads well ahead of his reappearance.
