Private Harry ruled out of The 2025 Everest field

Private Harry’s spring has ended prematurely, ruling the four-year-old out of this year’s The Everest at Randwick on October 18, despite being among the first horses locked in for the $20 million feature.
Trained by Nathan Doyle and triumphant in his first five outings, the son of Harry Angel finished fifth—beaten 4-1/2 lengths—in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) on Saturday, having recorded the same margin when fifth in the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) on September 20.
He was found to be lame in the near foreleg after his latest run, and part-owner Yulong announced on Monday that the gelding will undergo further diagnostics before being spelled.
“It’s obviously disappointing but we need to do what’s best for the horse,” Yulong’s chief operating officer Sam Fairgray said.
“He’s far better than his last two runs would suggest, so there is clearly something amiss that we need to look into further.
“Nathan Doyle’s team will take him into the clinic this week for a thorough investigation, which hopefully will shed some light on the situation and let us plan an appropriate path for him.”
With Private Harry no longer filling Yulong’s slot in The Everest, connections will assess replacement options. Yulong still has Angel Capital (for James Harron) and Magic Time (taken by Inglis) engaged for the race.
Over the weekend, Magic Time joined War Machine (Coolmore) and Jedibeel (Mulberry Racing) as confirmed runners for The Everest, while Godolphin remains the only slot-holder yet to declare its representative.
