Big Sky out to cement 2026 Blue Diamond Stakes credentials

Trainer Robbie Griffiths believes Invincible Son is set to take another step forward when he lines up in Saturday’s Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes at Caulfield.

The colt finished third behind Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unit Five on debut and now continues his path toward the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.

Griffiths said it was difficult to assess how much Invincible Son learned from that first run but was pleased with what he saw at a subsequent jump-out.

“He hadn’t been back to the barriers until Monday, but I thought he trialled really well,” Griffiths said.

“Guest House is a good horse and our bloke went well without being fully tested.”

The trainer felt the colt was disadvantaged by his draw first-up and expects a better showing this time.

“He had to burn fuel from a wide gate and that told late,” he said.

“From barrier one, he should get a much smoother run and that’s a big plus.”

Griffiths also believes the larger Caulfield track will play to Invincible Son’s strengths.

“Our horses are trained on big tracks and generally improve when they get a bit more room,” he said.

With the Blue Diamond on the horizon, punters can assess how the form stacks up via leading racing betting markets.
