Doncaster Mile weights present tough challenge for Autumn Glow

These days, tales of Autumn Glow always invite references to Winx.
That pattern holds true here too.
Should Chris Waller's lately defeated mare notch a 10th consecutive success in the upcoming Doncaster Mile at Randwick, she would mirror achievements unique to the fabled Winx.
Weights released Tuesday for the $4 million Group 1 handed the daughter of The Autumn Sun 56.5kg.
Ceolwulf (59kg), Gringotts (58.5kg), Sir Delius (58kg), Antino (57.5kg), Buckaroo (57kg), and Pericles (57kg) alone outranked her for the April 4 1600m handicap.
From 139 Doncaster entrants, 31 landed the 49kg bottom weight, encompassing Group 1 victors Apocalyptic, Ole Dancer, Vinrock, Nepotism, exciting Victorian filly Sheza Alibi, and prime Australian Guineas fancy Sixties.
Autumn Glow's allotment equals Winx's victorious burden from 10 years past, upholding the record for four-year-old mares.
Four mares alone have won a Doncaster under heavier loads, with Cuddle topping at 59kg equivalent in 1936, all five years or older then.
Included was Sunline, who took 2002 honours at 58kg, but two years before as a four-year-old on 57.5kg, she lost late to light-weighted 51.5kg three-year-old Over.
No other four-year-old mare has run the Doncaster with 56.5kg or beyond since the millennium began, and those three missed the first 10.
Typhoon Tracy and Alizee both carried 56.5kg to 14th and 17th spots, while More Joyous was 11th on 57kg in 2011.
In the Doncaster, Autumn Glow shoulders 2kg extra versus her prior Epsom Handicap conquest last year, eyeing a spot as the 10th dual winner that season.
Which mare alone pulled off that combo? You guessed it, Winx.
