Overpass headed to England for King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot

On Wednesday, the syndicate owning Overpass, under the management of Scott Darby Syndications, decided in favor of travelling to England.
Overpass, boasting earnings exceeding $12 million in prizemoney, is poised to contest the Group 1 King Charles III (once known as King's Stand) Stakes on June 16, the first day of the Royal Ascot carnival.
Confirmation of Overpass's English venture means as many as six sprinters from Australian stables might compete at the iconic Royal Ascot: Joliestar, Generosity, Lady Of Camelot, Charm Stone and Asfoora.
Trainer Chris Waller plans to direct his five-time Group 1 winner Joliestar towards the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Stakes (1200m) on the last day of Royal Ascot, June 20, during the five-day fixture.
From the same stable, Generosity is targeted at the King Charles III Stakes opener, assuming she meets expectations in next week's Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes held at Morphettville.
The trainer Waller aims for another victory in the King Charles III Stakes following Nature Strip's celebrated run at Royal Ascot in 2022.
Trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott remain open to running Lady Of Camelot in both major Royal Ascot sprints, if the winner of the 2024 Golden Slipper shines in her upcoming two Brisbane carnival appearances next month.
Dual Group 1 winner Charm Stone intends to face Joliestar at Royal Ascot, as long as she performs adequately in the Robert Sangster Stakes.
Henry Dwyer's charge Asfoora triumphed in the King Charles III Stakes two years ago, was unplaced upon her 2025 Royal Ascot return, then proceeded to win the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York along with the Group 1 Prix de L'Abbaye in France's Longchamp.
To ready her for a third Royal Ascot challenge, Dwyer has stationed Asfoora in England throughout the northern hemisphere winter.
