Proud Miss Stakes next for Aviatress after Adelaide plans change

Ahead of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast, the Aviatress camp originally scheduled a pair of Group 1 races in Adelaide.
A problem surfaced just prior to the mare's debut attempt in the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on April 25, dashing hopes for The Goodwood (1200m) this coming Saturday.
Instead, Aviatress will tackle the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) on Saturday, her goodbye race for trainers Richard and Chantelle Jolly plus owner David Price.
In the Robert Sangster, Aviatress copped barrier 17, hardly optimal, yet a forming abscess ultimately sidelined her from the contest.
"She pulled up sore in a foot after galloping on the Tuesday before the Sangster," Richard Jolly said.
"She had a tiny little abscess rear its head but after three or four days she got over it.
"We galloped her on Saturday morning and we decided not to pursue The Goodwood and instead go to the softer option of the Proud Miss.
"After that she heads up to the Gold Coast to go through the mare's sale."
The mare boasts 22 race appearances with seven triumphs and six additional placegettings, amassing close to $570,000 in earnings.
Having won multiple Stakes races, Aviatress' career highlight arrived in the 2024 Group 3 Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m) as part of the Caulfield Cup Carnival.
Aviatress, a Price homebred, has produced a Rich Enuff colt for him from dam Twin Star Rocket, and she's in foal once more to Smart Missile, according to Jolly.
"There will be a full sister or brother to Aviatress coming up," Jolly said.
Although Saturday concludes her time with Jolly's stable, he believes she has more racing ability if future owners pursue it.
"Saturday will be her last run for us, and she will be sold," Jolly said.
"It will be up to the new owners to decide what they want to do as she's still got racing in her if they want to go that way."
