Randwick awaits another win for Hello Captain

While Chris Waller juggles the demands of Royal Ascot with Joliestar's imminent race, his focus also remains on his promising runners closer to home.

A significant chance for the stable is Hello Captain, who is slated to run in the Kia Ora Bloodlines to Headlines Handicap (1300m) at Randwick.

The gelding, now partnered with Nash Rawiller, has seen strong support from the betting public, being installed as the even money favourite.

"Hello Captain has returned in great shape," Waller commented from England.

"He has found really good form, he has won his last three starts and is full of confidence."

The colt by Hello Youmzain, purchased by Waller and bloodstock expert Guy Mulcaster for roughly AU$520,000 at the Karaka Sales in New Zealand, has secured three victories in four appearances, with his sole defeat being a second at Doomben in December.

"He's a typical New Zealand-bred horse, he has just taken time to mature," Waller added.

"But James (jockey McDonald) rode him a couple of starts ago and gave him a good report.

"He's trained on well since and kept his form. This is a bit trickier with a bit of weight (60.5-kilos) but if he was to win again Saturday we might back off and then have a look at the spring."

In the following race, a benchmark 78 over 1800m, Waller is also represented by the mare Nasebah, who is expected to be a strong contender at short odds.

Last start, the four-year-old finished effectively to secure fourth place after dropping back in distance to the Randwick mile on June 6.

"This horse was very unlucky last start but she will be very hard to beat on Saturday," Waller concluded. Get all the latest racing betting markets here.
