Imposant set for a winning farewell from racing

Trainer Kris Lees anticipates Imposant will retire from her racing career on a winning note at Royal Randwick this coming Saturday.
Lees reported that Imposant is "going well" as she prepares for potentially her final race start in the Toyota Forklifts Handicap, a 1400-metre event.
"It seems like Imposant has been up forever but she handles the ground (heavy 10 rating on Friday)," Lees remarked. "Her work this week has been good, she's going well and this is a winnable race. "She will be going to stud in the spring so this could be her last run but I think we have found the right race for her."
TAB Fixed Odds are offering attractive odds of $23 for Imposant, particularly given her strong second placing behind stablemate Lord Of Biscay in the Provincial-Midway Championships Final over the Randwick 1400m distance earlier in the campaign.
Among Lees's three Randwick runners is the consistent sprinter Power Of The Brave, contesting the Kieran Moore Handicap (1000m). Power Of The Brave will carry top weight of 62.5kg, but apprentice Shannen Llewellyn's 3kg claim is expected to be beneficial.
Following a campaign that ended with successive seconds at Eagle Farm and Gold Coast in March, Power Of The Brave is listed at $8 by TAB Fixed Odds for his return. The striking chestnut gelding secured three wins during his last preparation, including a victory over the Randwick 1000m course late last year.
"He's a really genuine, on-speed sprinter," Lees commented about Power Of The Brave, a seven-time winner with 10 minor placings from 31 starts, accumulating over $360,000 in stakes. "He's come back in good order after his spell and this is the right time of year to have him up and racing. He's ready to go on Saturday."
Lees also expects the promising two-year-old Rumdabar, the $3.90 favourite, to be a formidable competitor in the Elite Sand And Soil Handicap (1400m).
Rumdabar experienced a last-place finish on debut behind Why So Hard at Randwick last month but rebounded strongly with an impressive victory at Newcastle over 1300m on a heavy track in his most recent outing.
"Rumdabar had 'big' excuses at his first start when he was trapped four-wide throughout," Lees said. "But he was very good at Newcastle and he's a young horse with ability. At this time of year, I don't think the transition from provincial to city class is that wide and he should be hard to beat again."
