Home Affairs Dominates Freshman Sire Premiership

The season is winding down, and Home Affairs is set to be crowned Australia's Champion First-Season Sire. Coolmore's exciting young stallion has produced a remarkable debut crop that has significantly exceeded expectations.

While the final tally for his stallion premierships won't be confirmed until the season's close, one major accolade has effectively been locked in for months.

The I Am Invincible colt has joined the exclusive club of Danehill and Extreme Choice by siring a Golden Slipper winner from his first crop, with Guest House taking out this year's juvenile feature. Even without the $2.95 million prize money from that prestigious race, Home Affairs would still comfortably lead the first-season sires' premiership by earnings.

As the season enters its final four days, Home Affairs has already sired 16 winners, the highest number of any first-season sire. His 44 runners have amassed a total of $4,948,300 in prize money.

His closest competitor, Newgate's Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside, has progeny that have earned $950,833.

The initial crop of Home Affairs consisted of 145 foals, conceived at a starting service fee of $110,000 (inc GST). Coolmore Australia principal Tom Magnier commented that the stallion had delivered everything the ownership group had envisioned.

"I'm delighted for our partners in Home Affairs as he's crowned Champion First-Season Sire," Magnier said.

"He was purchased as a yearling in the first year we went out and sourced colts to race and to be able to reward their trust in such a way gives us all a great thrill.

"Home Affairs has been followed on by the likes of Shinzo, Switzerland and Private Life, so our partners have got a few irons in the fire yet, but to land Home Affairs straight away is what we dreamed of.

"We think he is a Champion Sire of the future and that his stock are only going to improve from two years to three years, so the future is bright."

Beyond Guest House, his standout performer, Home Affairs has also produced Listed Redoute's Choice Stakes winner Gin Twist, marking his other Australian black-type winner.

Other notable contributors to the stallion's outstanding first-season earnings include Magic Millions National 2YO Classic runner-up Natural Fling and VOBIS Gold Rush winner and Listed placegetter Marffiano.

Home Affairs is still in contention for the Champion 2YO Sire title, currently trailing Snitzel by a mere $32,445 as the season draws to a close.

His prospects for this title were impacted when Saturday Party was scratched from Wednesday's Randwick meeting. Snitzel still has participants at Randwick and Kembla Grange, while Home Affairs' chances depend on three juveniles nominated for races at Geelong and Scone on Friday.

Regardless of the final standings, Home Affairs has already secured a significant position in the breeding barn. His service fee has increased from $82,500 in the past two seasons to $176,000 for 2026.

He is also set to cover a select group of mares, including Guest House's dam, Flamboyant Lass, in addition to Group 1 performers Zougotcha, Learning To Fly, and Nimalee.
