Estriella continues build-up to Adelaide's Robert Sangster Stakes

Estriella’s progression towards the Group 1 Sangster Stakes will continue at Cranbourne on Monday morning.
The star sprinting filly, who is one of the most exciting horses in Ciaron Maher’s stable, will step out in an 800-metre jumpout.
The daughter of I Am Invincible all but demanded she be directed towards Australia’s only 1200-metre race for fillies and mares with a brilliant win in the $500,000 Sunlight Classic (1100m) at Flemington on March 30.
Maher said the Sangster Stakes, which will be run at Morphettville on April 27, became an obvious target following that event, especially in light of South Australia raising the stakes to $1 million for each of their four Group 1 races.
Maher, who won last year’s Sangster Stakes with three-year-old filly Ruthless Dame, thought a jumpout was the best next step for the filly who has won four of her seven starts.
“I’m very happy with her, she’s just been ticking over at Fingal,” Maher said.
“I just thought, where she’s at in her career, the two weeks and travel was best (because) she’s still getting there.
“She’s racing very well off spaced runs and a Group 1 is a pretty big lure in Adelaide, who have bumped up their prizemoney.”
Estriella has won her only three starts this campaign with the Sunlight Classic win following victory in the $1 million Inglis Sprint (1200m), having resumed with a win in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1100m).
Estriella is down to step out in jumpout threat Cranbourne, the first of the morning’s 800m workouts, in which her Group 1-placed stablemate I Am Me is also entered.
