Top jockey generous opinion of his Raconteur Stakes mount

Top jockey Brad Parnham is confident he can add another Raconteur Stakes (1400m) trophy to his mantel piece when he partners Generosity in the $125,000 Listed event at Belmont on Saturday.

Brad Parnham and Generosity team up together for the second after proving a formidable winning combination last-start which broke a frustrating run of five consecutive placings beforehand for the filly.

Parnham celebrated his first ride on Generosity by bringing her home with a strong finishing burst that had her defeating Luvnwar by one length with Raconteur rival, The Boss Lady, a long-neck away third.

Parnham, who has been riding the crest of a wave in recent weeks, has no qualms declaring the Simon Miller-trained, Generosity, as the best of his seven mounts tomorrow.

“She won really well the other day in what I think was a pretty handy field,” Parnham told Tabradio.

“If she lets down like she did last start she’s going to be very hard to beat.

“She’s going very good and is in form.”

Another positive factor for Parnham is a favourable barrier draw.

Generosity faces her 11 rivals in the Raconteur from gate one.

Parnham says his ploy is to get away quickly and have her coiled behind the speed.

“I think it’s a good gate for my horse, considering we’re up to 1400m,” Parnham said.

“We should get a pretty soft run and hopefully she begins well like she did last start.

“I know there’s been starts this prep where she hasn’t begun well, but if she does begin well she’ll probably just park up behind the speed.

“Give her a soft run and then look to get clear running at the top of the straight and if she can do what she did last start, let down the same way, I think she’s going to be very hard to beat.”

Generosity and The Boss Lady are the best backed runners in the Raconteur Stakes, occupying one-two billing with Tabtouch.

Generosity is favourite at $3.30, tightening from $4.60.

The Boss Lady, from Michael Lane’s Bunbury team, is $4.60 after she opened at $6 with betting apps.

A daughter of Street Boss, she has accumulated six wins and two thirds from nine career starts.

Brave Strike, the second of Miller’s runners, is $20.

Parnham’s younger brother, Chris, combines with The Boss Lady, who starts from barrier 12, the widest gate, but meets Generosity 3.5kg better.

Brad Parnham is on the hunt for his third Raconteur Stakes success after back-to-back wins aboard All Gee (2016) and Variation (2017).

His other Belmont mounts are Brazen Bid, Top Of The Pops, Miss Drakova, Best Mood, Birdieagle and Vitalize.

“Generosity is definitely my best ride,” Parnham said.
