He’s Our Bonneval set to shine in Adelaide

Fears of missing a start at Caulfield has resulted in the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young stable sending He’s Our Bonneval to Adelaide.
He’s Our Bonneval was going to run in the Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday, but the stable did not know whether the eight-year-old would gain a start.
Instead, they have decided to travel He’s Our Bonneval across the border to Adelaide where the gelding is set to line up in the Sportsbet Jockey Watch Handicap (1200m) at Morphettville.
A European import who scored at his Australian debut at Caulfield in June 2022, He’s Our Bonneval has been a model of consistency since joining to Busuttin and Young stable.
The eight-year-old is not getting any younger, however the stable does not feel He’s Our Bonneval’s winning days are behind him.
For that reason, Busuttin and Young scratched He’s Our Bonneval scratched the gelding from a race at Moonee Valley last week when he drew wide and set their sights on Saturday.
“It didn’t look like he was going to get a run in the open 1400-metre race here, so we’ve decided to drop him back to 1200 metres and send him over to Adelaide,” Young said.
“He’s been going well. He’s been running consistent races and if you go over his form, he’s probably more a 1400-metre to a mile horse, but this is a nice race for him in his right grade for his rating, and the Adelaide grade may be a little bit of a softer option for him.
“He’s not getting any younger, but he tries hard, and he might be getting to that point where he’s at that benchmark in his career.
“Hopefully we can get another win out of him, and who knows it might lead to something a bit better where he might get into something with a light weight.
“We’ve got Todd Pannell, a nice strong rider for him, and hopefully we can pick up a win and get his confidence back up.”
