Catchy’s girl Floozie chases valuable G1 in 2025 Tattersall’s Tiara

Floozie could become one of the most sought-after mares in Australian racing if she takes out Saturday’s Tattersall’s Tiara, with her stellar pedigree and impressive form placing her in elite company.

The Group 1 event, exclusive to mares and fillies, marks the final major of the racing calendar and presents a golden opportunity for Floozie to enhance her value exponentially.

She’s the daughter of rising champion sire Zoustar and the classy Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy, who also ran a bold race against the boys in the Caulfield Guineas.

Bred by prominent owner Robert Crabtree, Floozie has already shown she belongs at the top level with four straight wins this prep, including her breakthrough stakes wins in the Listed Silk Stocking and Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m).

“She’s got a lovely racing style. She’s a beautiful mare,” Gollan said.

“Mares in form, they tend to hold that form and I doubt there’s a mare in any better form than her going into this race on the weekend and we know she’s proven at the distance.

“When James Mitchell rang me about training her, I said that would be great. He said he wanted to try something during the Carnival to try and get some Black Type as her pedigree is so good.

“When I looked at her rating, I thought I’d have to devise something of a plan to get her into a Stakes race, so we ran her in some of those lesser grade races first.

“She had to hit the target pretty much straight away just to get her rating high enough to get her into the Silk Stocking, which was my plan all away and from there I picked my mark quite well in the Group 2.

“I think there’s improvement off her last run, which was five weeks, with no trial, so she’ll be better than she was a fortnight ago on Saturday.”

Floozie’s siblings haven’t yet reached her heights, with Dakota Vroom and Catonahotinroof both winning metro races but failing to break through at the highest level. Her younger siblings, including a filly by Pinatubo and another by Blue Point, will soon get their chance to shine.

Catchy was recently sold in-foal to Capitalist for $800,000, underlining the value of her bloodline.
