Gosford juvenile win highlights I Am Dirty's promise

Following her standout performance in The Coast Raceday 2yo Handicap (1200m) at Gosford on Saturday, I Am Dirty might pursue the Group 1 route triumphantly followed by yard companions Overpass and Green Spaces.
Bjorn Baker, the trainer, is convinced of I Am Dirty's growing capabilities, yet he hesitates on whether to enter her in stakes company this term.
"We will have a bit of a think about what we do next with her,'' Baker told Sky Thoroughbred Central's Greg Radley. "Maybe we go one more or possibly put her out.
"I've always had a really good opinion of her and it is important to win these Saturday two-year-old races.
"I'm confident she will go on to better things, it is just a matter of when.
"This has been a great form race, particularly for my stable, and we are lucky to have a very, very nice filly in I Am Dirty.''
The trainer highlighted how his stable sprint ace Overpass captured the same juvenile race at the debut standalone Gosford card in 2021.
From 36 starts, Overpass has notched 10 wins, two at Group 1, including two The Quokkas, amassing more than $12.5 million in prizemoney.
Currently, Baker gears Overpass toward the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes (1000m) during England's elite Royal Ascot festival next month.
Last year at Gosford, Green Spaces from Godolphin ran without placing behind Hidden Achievement, prior to joining Baker.
This season in the Baker camp, Green Spaces has become potentially the finest staying three-year-old around, gifting Baker a Group 1 ATC Australian Derby victory last month.
Time alone will reveal I Am Dirty's racing ceiling, but the filly, bred from elite sire I Am Invincible as the debut foal of Group 3 victor Dirty Thoughts, impressed greatly at Gosford.
On just her second outing, I Am Dirty shortened to $2.60 co-favourite with punters and dominated by two lengths courtesy of Rachel King over Quarterback ($13), as Parisest Magic ($71) surged late for third spot.
A $600,000 Magic Millions yearling, I Am Dirty advanced notably from her debut non-place behind skilled filly Bangkok Hottie at Randwick last month, according to King.
"She was a little bit more on the ball today, she jumped 'clean' and put herself up on speed,'' King said.
"They had a big opinion of her before that first-up run but it didn't quite come off so hopefully this has repaid them today.
"She's pretty tractable and when I got to 'park' outside the lead, she relaxed beautifully and won well.''
Baker benefited doubly from I Am Dirty's triumph.
"I've got some very important owners in this filly including none other than (wife) Mrs Andrea Baker,'' the trainer said.
"This is her Mother's Day gift because I haven't got anything else organised!"
