Doomben awaits Jimmysstar's comeback effort

Ciaron Maher's camp is well attuned to the difficulties Jimmysstar encounters in every race.
The Kiwi-bred speedster ranks highly among Australia's elite, but his settling habits make him susceptible.
With 11 victories in 26 appearances and stakes exceeding $8.5 million, Jimmysstar is set to chase further glory for Maher and owners in Saturday's Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1200m).
Key news is jockey Ethan Brown's approval to leave Hong Kong and join Jimmysstar for the Saturday mount.
The gelding's last four wins came under Brown's guidance, including a third in the All-Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 18, his freshest run.
According to Jack Turnbull, Ciaron Maher Racing's National Assistant Trainer, the stable hasn't lost faith despite Jimmysstar's apparent setbacks.
"The only run that was sub-par was at Caulfield and you could really argue the track that day," Turnbull said.
"Our team have been complimentary of his performances, but it's been whether he's copped a bump out of the gates, or whether he's got too far back.
"I know there was this expectation that he was going to go bang, bang, bang, but unfortunately his pattern is to get back and against that class of horse, he needs to be scintillating to be reeling them off and winning.
"His runs have been good and improving and he will continue to improve, especially poking up to Queensland at this time of year."
Jimmysstar has resided at Bong Bong post All-Aged Stakes, sharing proximity to Pride Of Jenni, victor at the Gold Coast last weekend, Turnbull revealed.
The star will truck north to Brisbane this week aiming at the Doomben 10,000 from stall 11.
Stablemate Another Wil faces tougher prospects from gate 19 in the 19-horse lineup.
Last sighted in spring, Another Wil trailed in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield.
Maher's plans included a Brisbane Winter Carnival tilt for the nine-time winner from 18 goes.
"The 1200 metres is probably not his best and it's not a good draw, but he's up there and has galloped at Doomben," Turnbull said.
The ride goes to Ryan Maloney, as Warnie secures barrier nine with Mark Zahra aboard.
Top Australian betting sites are offering strong options for the Doomben 10,000 this Saturday.
